Rally: free online rally car game
Gravel, mud, snow and tarmac stages seen from above, with jumps over the crests and a co-driver calling the corners. Race the clock and three computer ghosts. Free, no account needed.
How to play
- The car accelerates by itself. On a phone, press the big left and right buttons to steer and the middle one to brake. On a computer, use the arrow keys or A and D to steer, S to brake and the space bar for the handbrake.
- Every surface feels different: tarmac grips, gravel slides and throws up dust, mud is slippery and slows you down, and snow has almost no grip. Brake before the corners, not in them.
- Your co-driver calls every corner on a banner at the top and out loud: the arrow, the side and the grade, from 1 (very tight) to 6 (almost flat out). “Long” means the bend goes on, “Caution” means it is tighter than it looks. Over the crests the car jumps, and you cannot steer in the air.
- Grab the turbo (extra speed for a few seconds), the clocks (2 seconds off) and the V coins. Big hits dent the car and leave it a little slower until the end of the stage.
- In Stage mode, the faster you are, the more points. In the Full rally, the total time over 5 stages counts. In the Full rally and the Stage of the day, each V coin adds 20 points. Every ghost you beat earns a star, and grabbing three quarters of the coins earns one more.
Where rallying comes from
Rallying grew out of the road events of the early 20th century, when cars travelled from town to town on open roads. More than being first, the challenge was to get there at all, with cars and roads far less reliable than today.
The Monte Carlo Rally began in 1911: competitors set off from several European cities and had to reach Monaco. Over time, rallies added timed stages on closed roads, where cars start one at a time and the lowest total time wins.
In Portugal, the Rally de Portugal has been held since 1967 and was part of the World Rally Championship from its very first season, in 1973. The stage names in this game are just places in Portugal: the routes are made up.
Free game, no betting and no prizes. The stages and cars are made up. Your rally is saved on this device.
